If you ride indoors, on a Peloton, in a studio or on a smart bike at home, you might know this moment.
The first 20 minutes feel great. Then somewhere in the climb your feet start to tingle, the outside of your foot starts to burn, and between intervals you're wiggling your toes instead of watching the leaderboard.
So you loosen the strap. You size up. You try thicker socks, then thinner ones. Maybe you decide clip-in shoes are just supposed to feel like this.
They're not. Indoor riding is harder on your feet than most people expect. There's no coasting and almost no airflow, so your feet heat up and swell as the class goes on. A shoe that felt fine at minute one can be squeezing by minute 30.
Peloton itself lists its cycling shoe as a "narrow to normal" fit and suggests riders with wide feet size up.
